# End of Summer Sellathon

The End of Summer Sellathon was the NFT auction by Jay Pegs Auto Mart to distribute 'Dona NFTs, which opened on 9/13/2021.

It was a new type of NFT auction that used 2 phases:

**Phase 1:** MISO Batch Auction for $DONA (no longer live, [here](https://etherscan.io/address/0xc2704dec22e552164dee240b20b840ea379b878e#writeContract) is the contract)

**Phase 2:** Exchange 1 $DONA for 1 'Dona NFT [here](https://jaypegsautomart.com/lot)

This accomplished 2 primary objectives:

**Lower Gas Fees:** by using the $DONA token essentially as a reservation token for the NFT, users could choose to mint whenever they wanted. This allowed people to mint at lower traffic times, paying less Ethereum gas fees.

**Fair Metadata Generation:** by avoiding the typical minting frenzy that clogs the Ethereum network (spiking gas fees and benefitting "whales" with more $ to spend), it gave everyone a fair shot at minting NFTs. Metadata was also randomly assigned every 500 mints, limited the ability for people to cheat and choose specific VINs with better rarity.

While the $DONA auction sold out in 3 days raising 864 ETH, minting is still open. Learn more about minting [here](/docs/jay-pegs-auto-mart/mint-dona-nft.md).
